8 destinations that are cheaper this year

1. Larnaca Area, Cyprus

Our data shows holiday prices to resorts in Cyprus’s Larnaca area have fallen by around 38% compared to last year – that’s a £495pp difference on seven-night trips.

The south coast port city, a fabulous holiday destination in its own right, is also the gateway to some of Cyprus’s best resorts, such as hedonistic Ayia Napa and family-friendly Protaras. Both are excellent bases for a beach getaway, with some of the best sands in Cyprus on their doorstep.

Hiring a car is worth it if you like to get out and explore on holiday. Highlights include off-the-beaten-track gems such as the finger-like Karpas Peninsula, and the ancient ghost city of Salamis.

2. Kefalonia, Greece

Affordable prices – some 28% cheaper compared to last year – are seeing the stunning Ionian island of Kefalonia turn heads in 2025. It’s the cheapest Greek island this year too, with seven-night holiday prices down from £669pp to £481pp.

Flight and holiday capacity may have something to do with the drop. From 22 May, TUI’s twice-weekly summer flights will depart from Bournemouth, while Jet2’s new flights and packages from Leeds Bradford Airport will take off from 2 July.

For first time visitors, there’s plenty of great things to do in Kefalonia. When you’re not lazing on its sun-drenched beaches, there are mountain hikes to tackle, local wines to sample and pretty villages like Assos and Fiskardo to explore.

3. Izmir area, Turkey

Turkey's Izmir ranks third for savings, with prices falling almost 25% to £633pp for a seven-night holiday, a substantial saving of £207pp compared to 2024.

Exploring the city’s busy bazaars and ancient sights will keep culture cravers happy, but Izmir is also a great jumping off point for the resorts and beaches of the wider region. Choose classy Kusadasi for easy access to more history at the famous Roman city of Ephesus, or picturesque Alaçati, which has cobbled old town streets and a silky white-sand beach at Ilıca.

You could even take the opportunity to hop over to a Greek island for the day. Bring your passport and jump on the 30-minute ferry journey from Çeşme to visit laidback Chios.

4. Sardinia, Italy

Unlike Sicily, which has skyrocketed in popularity over the last few years, Sardinia hasn’t yet captured the imagination of holidaymakers from the UK. They’re missing out.

All white sand and gin-clear waters, many of Sardinia’s best beaches look like they could’ve been plucked straight out of the Caribbean. Then there’s its attractive cities like Cagliari and Alghero, and back-to-nature opportunities at the San Teodoro lagoon and on the Giara di Gesturi plateau.

This year could be a great time to visit too – our data has revealed a 23% drop in prices for seven-night holidays in 2025, with average package costs dropping by £156 to £524pp.

5. Thailand

The timing couldn’t be better for fans of HBO's acclaimed series, The White Lotus. The third season is set in Thailand, and we’ve seen significant price drops across two major holiday destinations in the country – though if Sicily’s post-White Lotus demand is anything to go by, it might not stay that way for long.

Pattaya leads the savings, with an 18% decrease (£224pp less) to £1,005pp, while Phuket has seen prices fall by 12% (£178pp less) to £1,250pp. Bangkok also just makes the cut, with prices dropping £77pp to £1,005pp, a 7% reduction.

Price drops have been encouraged by Thailand's increased accessibility: British Airways has returned to Bangkok after four years and Etihad has boosted its flight frequency this year.

That said, even the biggest savings won’t put the show’s hotel setting, the luxurious Anantara Mai Khao Villas, within reach for many of us. But we can still dream!

6. The Maldives

The Maldives comes in sixth for holiday savings in 2025, although we’re mostly seeing price drops for just two atolls.

The Raa Atoll, where you’ll find islands such as Meedhupparu and Dhigali, has dropped by 10% compared to last year – or around £224pp less than in 2024. The Lhaviyani Atoll has also seen a decrease of around 9%, or £175pp.

It’s a hard place to beat if you’re looking for a truly zen holiday where all you have to do is roll out of your overwater villa and on to a sun-lounger. Expect average prices around £1,762pp in the Lhaviyani Atoll and £1,935pp in the Raa Atoll.

7. Indonesia

Looking for more long-haul holiday inspiration? You could try Indonesia this year, which has seen prices drop by 10% for 2025. The savings, around £149pp, will go far in places like Bali, where a pint of a domestic beer costs around £2.06 and a mid-range meal for two will set you back about £25.

Stay in Bali and you’ll have plenty of beautiful beaches on your doorstep. It’s also a good base if you want the postcard highlights of Indonesia. As well as soft sands, you can discover temples and terraces in Ubud (there’s a monkey sanctuary here, too), take a boat trip to the Gili Islands or chase waterfalls in Munduk.

8. Zante, Greece

With an 8.5% decrease in prices (that’s savings of around £59pp), short-haul favourite Zante rounds out our list.

Another Ionian gem, the island of Zante – also known as Zakynthos – doesn’t need an introduction. It’s where you’ll find the instantly recognisable Smuggler’s Cove, as well as a string of unspoiled golden beaches.

Laganas is the island’s notorious party hub, but there’s also a low-key side to Zante, which you’ll find in towns like Kalamaki, Tsilivi and Alykes. Quieter still is the island’s rugged interior. Hire a car to visit traditional villages including Anafonitri and Exo Chora and keep an eye out for vendors selling locally made honey and handicrafts.
