The Long Night of the Museums is in August; museums throw open their doors until late in the night all over the city. Tickets are required but they are cheap (ranging from €12 to €18) and free for children below 12 years old, so it is a great time to be on a budget break in Berlin.

Where to stay on a city break in Berlin
