Holidays in Thailand

You’ve seen the pictures of impossibly white sandy beaches in the Thailand holiday brochures and online, along with photos of limestone karst rocks thrusting out of the aquamarine water like jagged teeth. It may seem improbable. For once, though, you really can believe the hype – photogenic Thailand is just as beautiful in real life.

When you arrive on you holiday in Thailand, you’ll discover that the country more than lives up to its image. Whether you’re heading to a far-flung resort on a tiny island in the Andaman Sea, or diving into the heaving hustle and bustle of capital city Bangkok, the sheer variety on offer makes Thailand a true highlight of South-East Asia.

There’s sun, sea and surf, but there’s also an abundance of outdoor pursuits, cultural activities and some of the best food in the world.

When to go to Thailand

Thailand in the dry season has a delightfully temperate climate. November through to January is the best time to visit; it’s warm but not oppressively hot, especially by the coast. As a result, though, this also tends to be the busiest and most expensive period to travel to Thailand.

Breaks during the June to November monsoon season can be cheaper, although the summer holiday period can make all-inclusive holidays in Thailand more expensive. So why not escape the crowds and benefit from much cheaper Thailand holidays by travelling during the February to May low season?

Whenever you want to go, booking your Thailand package early should help you nab the best deal.

Discover perfection on a budget

Holidays in Thailand are cheap, especially compared to most long-haul trips, and tour operators offering all-inclusive Thailand deals have become very popular.

Yet the country is also a perfect destination for everyone from couples looking for romance to backpackers seeking wild nights and adventures. Families too, are increasingly tempted by excellent-value Thailand package deals.

Chinese New Year: Thailand’s Chinese community will celebrate New Year on the first day of the lunar calendar in January. Although not a public holiday in Thailand, you should see plenty of red (an auspicious colour) and hear firecrackers going off continuously in areas with large Chinese populations.

If you’re in Bangkok, meanwhile, you can join the crowds watching the parade.
