Driving in Torremolinos is relatively straightforward. It’s well connected via the N-340, which will get you to Malaga in under 30 minutes. A trip to Marbella along the AP-7 takes around 45 minutes. Or head north on the A-357 for mountain towns and sensational scenery.

To tackle the vertiginous walkways of El Caminito del Rey, take the A-357 and park by the north access entrance. The journey usually takes around an hour. If you’re planning to drive through the mountains, an SUV is a good option. If not, a compact or mini hire car from Torremolinos will handle city streets perfectly well.

Whatever your itinerary, there are a couple of things to remember when driving in Spain. Most importantly, motorists drive on the right side of the road.
