Cheap Flights to Perth 2025

Perth is the only Australian city you can fly to direct from the UK, increasing its appeal as a gateway city to rival Sydney and Melbourne. That said, those direct flights to Perth are not (yet) widespread, and the wide range of indirect options offers much more choice – as well as lower prices, on average. Perth makes a great base for exploring Western Australia, a vast expanse of surf beaches, wild bushland and wine country.

While no UK-based budget airlines fly here, it is still possible to get some good deals on flights to Perth. Stopping over in a Middle Eastern or Asian city will tend to be cheaper than taking one of the few direct. You can also find some cheap Perth flights if you're willing to do a long or overnight stopover. Generally speaking, the cheapest time to fly to Perth is from mid April until the end of June – the start of Australian winter.

You’ll need to fly from London Heathrow if you want a direct flight to Perth. This will take around 16 hours and 45 minutes. However, with a stop in the middle, you will usually be looking at a total transit time of at least 19 hours and 35 minutes. Popular airlines for journeys to Perth include Qatar Airways, Emirates and Thai Airways, and stopovers are often in Middle Eastern or Asian cities, such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Doha or Bangkok.

If you’re not flying from London, you won’t have any choice about stopping over, as direct routes aren’t available elsewhere in the country. But even if you do plan to fly from Heathrow, it can be very much worth choosing a route with a stopover, given that this can in some cases take several hundred pounds off the cost.

Doha: Stop in Doha and your trip will be divided into an initial flight of around 6 hours 45 minutes followed by one of around 11 hours 20 minutes. This is the Qatari capital, full of history as well as glitz, glam and upscale shopping, and it’s worth venturing beyond the airport if you have the time.
Bangkok: A journey via Bangkok will break down into an 11-hour-15-minute flight and a 6-hour-45-minute flight. Book yourself a night in a hotel here in between and you’ll have time to take in some of the Thai capital’s most famous sights, such as the gleaming Royal Palace.

For most leisure visitors, Perth is a stop on a longer Australian adventure, rather than the final destination. Spending a few nights here can be worthwhile, though, and if you do, the Central Business District, or CBD, is a good area to stay in. This will put you at the heart of the action, close to beautiful Cathedral Square and the Perth Cultural Centre, home to the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the Western Australian Museum, and several theatres. To make the most of Perth itself, you may want hire a car and this is even more of a necessity if you plan to explore the vast wildernesses of Western Australia. Outside the main cities, it can be difficult to get around Australia by public transport. Head southeast to hit Helena National Park, or keep going down the coast to reach the classy vineyards and belting surf beaches of Margaret River.
