Cheap Flights to Malaga 2025

It’s easy to find cheap flights to the ever-popular Malaga from the UK, with multiple airlines regularly flying from airports around the country. The port city, in the centre of Spain’s southern coastline, is famed for its burgeoning artistic scene and electric nightlife, and is the gateway to the Costa del Sol.

Once you’ve landed, you’re moments away from the city’s numerous world-class museums, as well as the region’s glorious beaches and soaring mountain peaks.

Malaga's season starts to peak in May and lasts until October – although the peak-within-a-peak is of course the summer holiday period in July and August. Flying on midweek dates can help bring the costs down if you're constrained to summer.

Fly outside of peak, when it’s still warm, for significantly lower costs and fewer crowds. Low-cost airlines such as easyJet, Norwegian and Jet2 offer good deals from several UK airports, and British Airways also offers competitive rates from London to Malaga.

Direct flights leave from cities all around the UK every day, and take around 3 hours to reach Malaga. Naturally, the further south in the UK your departure destination, the quicker you’ll get there.

There are enough options that you shouldn’t need to take an indirect route, and these are sometimes pricier anyway. Most stop at Madrid or Barcelona for a 1 to 2 hour layover.

If you don't have a pre-arranged transfer from Malaga Airport, go to the transport hub next to Terminal 3 to sort out your onward travel. The airport is located to the south of the city centre, in the Churriana District. Buses run regularly into the centre and take about 40 minutes.

Driving to town or taking a taxi will take about 25 minutes. For the quickest trip in, take the train from the airport and reach Malaga in about 20 minutes. Do note, there are two airports that service Malaga, although most UK flights land at Malaga Airport – check which one you’re flying to before booking any onward travel.

It might be famous for beach breaks, but Malaga is much more than an arrivals lounge for the Mediterranean Sea. The home city of Picasso has a pronounced artistic and cultural side – the Museo Picasso Malaga and Centre Pompidou Malaga are masterpiece-packed galleries, while the Moorish castle of Alcazaba offers a glimpse into local history.

If you hire a car, even more of the region’s highlights become available to you. Don’t miss the “pueblos blancos,” or white villages. These scenic spots of bleach-white houses nestled into the hills represent quintessential Andalucia; Ronda, Mijas and Estepona are among the most picturesque.
