If you feel like a dose of West Coast glitz and glamour, you’re in luck. There are loads of direct flights to Los Angeles from the UK.
This is a popular business and leisure route, as well as a stopover point for flights heading down under – so while there are few low-cost carriers in the market, the choice of full-service airlines is large, including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Air New Zealand and many more. With great beaches, big theme parks, showbiz thrills and easy access to California's wild Central Coast, Los Angeles' appeal is obvious. Here's how to plan your flight.

While the distance makes truly cheap Los Angeles flights difficult to find, it’s still possible to pick up some good deals. As with all long-distance flights, booking well in advance is one of the biggest levers you can pull to bring down costs. Looking at low-cost airlines well also help – Norwegian, for example, operates direct flights to LAX from the UK. The most reliable tactics are to avoid the summer peaks – May and early June flights are a particularly good buy – and to consider flying indirect.
