Average temperatures in July and August can reach well beyond 30C at the peak of the day’s sun, especially in Petra. Amman sees highs only a degree or two cooler than Petra - still hot enough to make air conditioning in your hotel highly recommended during summer visits.

With temperatures in the mid-20s, spring and autumn are also pleasant times to visit Jordan, and probably much more comfortable for sightseeing.

Winter tourism, meanwhile, is low-key, although cool days and thin crowds please those who simply want to explore the sights at leisure.
