What to do in Palma Nova

However you get your thrills, a Palma Nova holiday has you covered. Younger ones can turn their knuckles white at amusement parks, golfers can hit a perfect drive in surroundings to match and party animals can go wild in legendary clubs. And, when you need to recover, the beach is waiting.

Beaches

Palma Nova has three well-equipped beaches along its buzzing promenade. The most central, Palma Nova Beach, is a one-kilometre stretch with sun-loungers, thatched shades, and pedalos for hire.

You’ll find another pristine spot, Playa Es Carregador, in the neighbouring bay. It’s popular with families thanks to the nearby children’s playground. Son Maties, just south of Palma Nova Beach, is the biggest of the bunch, and is lined with trendy waterfront bars.

Amusement parks

If the little ones tire of the beach, Palma Nova’s two amusement parks are sure to entertain. Katmandu Theme Park invites young thrill-seekers to check out a surreal upside-down house, bounce about in a five-level soft play area, or ride a virtual rollercoaster.

If you’d rather make a splash at a waterpark, head to Western Waterpark. The Wild West-themed park features a wave pool, 15m half pipe and several slides to whizz down. Both parks are less than a ten-minute drive away.

Golf

Fancy a round of golf in stunning scenery? You’re in luck. Three of Majorca’s most prestigious courses are within a fifteen-minute drive of Palma Nova. Play one of Europe’s longest par fives at Golf Santa Ponsa, enjoy castle views at Real Golf de Bendinat or head to T-Golf & Country, one of the oldest fairways on the island.

For those who take their swings less seriously, Fantasia Mini Golf in Palma Nova has three 18-hole courses. The elaborate holes are set in tropical gardens, where you play past waterfalls, lakes and wooden bridges.

Clubbing in Magaluf

For a wild night you won’t forget in a hurry, hit the clubs in Magaluf. The island’s party capital has five clubs and more than fifty bars within half a mile on its notorious main strip, where you’ll find DJs playing everything from R&B and house music to cheesy party classics.

The town is located just south of Palma Nova and, at around 30 minutes away, you can even walk if there’s no designated driver.

Palma de Majorca

Majorca’s capital is around a 25-minute drive from Palma Nova and well worth a visit. The city’s rich history reveals itself in golden buildings, medieval streets and a thriving cultural scene. Start at the grand Gothic cathedral at the heart of Palma before wondering the labyrinth laneways of the old Arab quarter.

To see a more modern side of the capital, head to the Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art.
